Imbolc Blessings!

Writer's picture: Debbie LearDebbie Lear

Imbolc is a Celtic festival marking the halfway point between winter and spring, traditionally celebrated on 1st–2nd February. Associated with the goddess Brigid, it symbolises renewal, fertility, and the returning light after the long, dark months. In ancient times, people honoured Imbolc with fires, feasting, and rituals to bless livestock and homes for the coming season. It later blended with Christian traditions, evolving into St Brigid’s Day. Today, modern pagans and Wiccans observe Imbolc as a time of purification, reflection, and hope, welcoming the gradual shift towards warmer days.
